Honda Activa Reaches Big Milestone, Sales Crosses 3 Crore Units

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), one of the largest two-wheeler companies, has announced the sale of three crore units of Activa scooters. The company claims that it is the only scooter to achieve this feat in almost 22 years. Activa has been the best selling scooter for many years.

The company had achieved sales of one crore units of Activa about eight years back. For the first time with the Activa, the company introduced Tough Up Tube, which is the company’s patented puncture resistance technology. This reduces sudden punctures. The Activa was the first scooter in the segment to get a BS6 compliant engine.

Earlier this year, the company launched the Activa 6G. The company’s H-Smart technology has been given in this. This is the new premium variant of Activa. The Activa is already the most popular scooter in the two-wheeler market. The starting price of the new Activa is Rs 74,536 (ex-showroom). It has been made available in three variants of Standard, Deluxe and Smart. HMSI had told that a smart find feature has been given in this scooter, so that the user can search the scooter using the smart key. With this key, the user can lock and unlock the scooter without using the physical key. This key can start the engine of the scooter when it is within a radius of two meters. It also has an engine start and stop switch.

The Honda Activa H-Smart gets a longer wheelbase, new passing switch and DC LED headlamp. It will get 12-inch alloy wheels, telescopic front suspension and adjustable rear suspension. The company has also claimed to make the engine of this scooter more powerful than before. Its 110 cc PGM-FI engine comes with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology. The new Activa competes with scooters like TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro already present in the market. Next year, the company plans to launch its first electric scooter. The sale of electric scooters is increasing rapidly in the country and due to this HMSI is also preparing to launch some models in this segment.
