We will remain dedicated to driving innovation forward.” The company started selling the Seltos in the country about four years back. The vehicle that completed the company’s 1 million unit production milestone is the facelifted Seltos. Its sale will be started soon.
Last month, the sales of the Seltos SUV crossed five lakh units in India. The company says that it is the fastest SUV to achieve this sales figure in the country. It competes with SUVs like Hyundai’s Creta and Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara. The Seltos has been the best selling model in the country for Kia for the last four years. It accounts for more than 50 percent of the company’s sales. It is also the most exported model of the company in overseas markets. The company has exported more than 1.35 lakh units of its indigenously made to many countries. Seltos sales stood at 27,159 units in the first quarter of the current year.
Kia plans to invest Rs 2,000 crore over the next four years to expand its presence in the Electric Vehicles (EV) market. This amount is about one-third of the total investment made by the company to start manufacturing in the country. Apart from this, the company had announced an investment of about $ 22 billion to launch 14 electric vehicles in the international market. The company will have an EV for sale in large numbers and will be launched exclusively for sale in India in 2025. The company has two electric vehicle models in the country.
