MG Motor, which launched a few new models this year, reported a 14 per cent year-on-year sales growth last month. The company delivered 5,125 units in June. In the same month last year, the company had sold 4,504 units. The best selling model for the company is the Hector SUV. Recently its new version was launched. MG Motor also launched Comet EV, the lowest priced electric car in the country in April.

The company’s sales have also increased as compared to May. MG Motor expects the sales growth to continue. However, it says there was a supply disruption due to the recent cyclonic storm Biparjoy. The company launched the new Hector and Hector Plus at this year’s Auto Expo. Good response is also being received for its Comet EV. This is the second electric vehicle from the company after the ZS EV.

Its ZS EV sales are also growing rapidly. Last month, the company received an order for 500 units from EV ride sharing platform BluSmart Mobility. This electric car will be included in BluSmart Mobility’s Delhi NCR and Bengaluru fleet. The electric car is available in two variants, Excite and Exclusive, priced at Rs 23,38,000 and Rs 27,29,800 respectively. With this, there are six charging options like DC super fast chargers, AC fast chargers and portable chargers. The company is also offering free installation of the charger at home or office for the ZS EV customers. MG Motor claims that the ZS EV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds. It comes with a 50.3 kWh capacity battery pack, which is mated to a permanent magnetic synchronous motor. This powertrain gives the car a power of 174 bhp.

The company has made Comet EV available in three variants. Its starting price is Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with this, a buyback program has also been offered in which customers will be assured of getting 60 percent of the cost of the vehicle after three years. Its range is about 230 kilometers. It has 12 inch steel wheels. Its battery is of 17.3 kWh. It is a two-door, four-seat subcompact hatchback.
