Royal Enfield is seeing a high demand for motorcycles in the 350 cc capacity. The company has Bullet, Hunter, Classic and Meteor in this range. It sold 68,554 units of 350 cc motorcycles in June. This is an increase of 36 per cent over the same period last year. However, sales of the company’s 350-600 cc motorcycles declined by around 23 per cent to 8,445 units. The company’s CEO, B Govindarajan said, “Royal Enfield always strives to create products that excite our customers. The company has achieved the highest ever sales for the first quarter.” Royal Enfield launched the Hunter 350 in the US and Latin America a few months back.
The company can also start soon in the category of electric motorcycle. The company’s electric motorcycle is being developed in association with Stark Future. Royal Enfield and Stark Future have a strategic partnership. Royal Enfield can also make the battery and motor for this motorcycle.
This electric motorcycle can be introduced next year. Siddhartha Lal, managing director of Eicher Motors, which owns Royal Enfield, recently confirmed the development of an electric motorcycle. He had said, “We are confidently moving forward in our EV journey. We have made a lot of progress with the electric motorcycle plan. This is also a great start to our partnership with Stark Future.” For this, the company has started work on adding new supply partners and setting up production lines. Its price in the US is $3,999. The India-made motorcycle is also sold in Indonesia, Thailand, New Zealand, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, UK, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia. The company plans to expand its export market.
